On September 29, the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board (CMB), Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, met with the Chargé d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan, Amy Carlon.
AZERTAC reports that Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade informed A. Carlon about the 44-day Patriotic War and the glorious Victory achieved by Azerbaijan. He stated that in 2020, Azerbaijan, thanks to the determination of Supreme Commander-in-Chief President Ilham Aliyev, the unity of our people, the strength of our valiant Army, and at the cost of the lives and blood of our martyrs, put an end to the 30-year Armenian occupation. It was noted that as a result of the anti-terror operations in 2023, Azerbaijan fully ensured its sovereignty.
It was brought to attention that as a result of the occupation of the Karabakh region, which is distinguished by the richness of its material and cultural monuments, by Armenia for 30 years, all museums, mosques, and monuments belonging to Islamic culture there were destroyed. Acts of vandalism were committed against Azerbaijan's cultural heritage in the mosques.
The Sheikhulislam also provided information about the extensive reconstruction and construction work currently underway in Karabakh.
The CMB Chairman also assessed the Joint Declaration signed on August 8 of this year in Washington by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, and the President of the United States Donald Trump as a document of diplomatic importance that buried the nearly 30-year conflict in the South Caucasus in the archives of history and guarantees that it will not be repeated.
The meeting also discussed the importance of the visit of the delegation led by the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board to the United States of America in the coming days. It was stated that the visit would create great opportunities for strengthening friendly relations and spiritual ties between the US and Azerbaijan.
The Sheikhulislam also brought to A. Carlon's attention his concern about the non-objective and inaccurate information about Azerbaijan contained in the international reports of some organizations operating in the United States.
Amy Carlon, in turn, expressed her satisfaction with the meeting. She emphasized that this meeting coincided with a very significant time between Azerbaijan and the United States. A. Carlon expressed hope that religious leaders will play an important role in establishing the future of the region and also pointed out that there is much to learn from Azerbaijan regarding the issue of multiculturalism.
Afterward, mutual gifts were presented.
A reception was held in honor of the guest at the end of the meeting.
