On February 20, the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, received Rovshan Muradov, the Executive Director of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center.
Welcoming the guest warmly, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade stated that the world leaders, influential socio-political figures, and renowned scholars representing the Nizami Ganjavi International Center undoubtedly determine the high level of the Center's activities. Highly appreciating the significance and international value of the traditional Global Baku Forums held by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center under the high patronage and support of the President of Azerbaijan, Sheikh-ul-Islam A. Pashazade emphasized that such high-level forums are a manifestation of Azerbaijan's prestige and credibility in the world.
Expressing his gratitude for the warm reception, R. Muradov informed that the main goal of the Azerbaijan-based Nizami Ganjavi International Center is to contribute to global events and activities carried out for the sake of peace, peaceful coexistence, and the establishment of justice in the world. The official of the international organization provided detailed information about the projects and ceremonies they have implemented with the support of the President of Azerbaijan. He specifically noted their interest in cooperating with the religious center—the Caucasus Muslims Board—which possesses multifaceted and extensive international relations. He added that the prestige and trust earned on an international scale by Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, as a world-renowned religious leader, is of great importance for representing Azerbaijan's interests at the highest levels.
During the meeting, issues of mutual interest and prospects for joint cooperation between the two organizations were discussed.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the religious center—the Caucasus Muslims Board—and the Nizami Ganjavi International Center. The document states that the Caucasus Muslims Board (CMB) is a historical, supreme Islamic religious center that unites the religious organizations of Muslims living in the region, cooperates with international and regional organizations of world religions, opposes national, racial, or religious discrimination, and respects the traditions and customs of other religions and peoples. The Nizami Ganjavi International Center (NGIC) is an institution based in Azerbaijan that honorably celebrates the heritage of the great Azerbaijani poet and philosopher Nizami Ganjavi and encourages the participation of eminent high-level figures in studying possible solutions to the great problems of our time, with the aim of promoting knowledge, tolerance, dialogue, and understanding among peoples, cultures, and nations.
The document emphasizes among its priorities that the CMB supports the development of projects and initiatives that promote understanding and reconciliation among cultures, ethnic groups, and religions on a global scale through its partnership network. The NGIC carries out activities aimed at promoting dialogue, learning, and understanding among peoples and cultures for the purpose of sustainable development, greater equality, and respect for human rights.
The memorandum defines the following areas of cooperation: promotion of interreligious and intercultural dialogue, cooperation on peacebuilding and conflict prevention, joint initiatives on religious tolerance and mutual respect, participation in the fight against extremism and radicalism, support for humanitarian and social welfare activities, cooperation in education, research, and youth engagement, protection and promotion of cultural and religious heritage, and participation in international forums, conferences, and dialogues.
