Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board, is on a visit to the Republic of Mauritius to take part in the annual meeting of the 2026 World Council of the "Religions for Peace" organization, held on June 23–26.

Sheikh ul-Islam A. Pashazade was elected Co-President of the World Council of "Religions for Peace" in 2025, and it is in this capacity — at the invitation of Secretary General Dr. Francis Kuria — that he is taking part in this year's meeting.

On June 23, prior to the opening ceremony of the World Council of "Religions for Peace," His Excellency Dharambeer Gokhool, President of Mauritius, met with a number of distinguished senior figures of the World Council.

A cordial dialogue took place during his personal meeting with Sheikh ul-Islam A. Pashazade. Recalling the Mauritian President's recent visit to Azerbaijan within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF-13), Sheikh ul-Islam A. Pashazade conveyed the greetings of the President of Azerbaijan to His Excellency Dharambeer Gokhool. The Mauritian President told the Sheikh ul-Islam that "you have a beautiful, hospitable country and a wise president," and asked the Sheikh ul-Islam to convey his sincere greetings to His Excellency President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan. President Dharambeer Gokhool of the Republic of Mauritius made special mention of having visited a religious site — the Bibiheybat Mosque complex — during his visit to Azerbaijan. The conversation continued in a cordial atmosphere.

With the participation of the President of Mauritius, the World Council of "Religions for Peace" began its work with prayers offered by religious figures of different faiths. The theme of this year's Council meeting is "Building Pathways Toward Shared Blessed Flourishing."

Sheikh ul-Islam A. Pashazade will speak at the prestigious gathering's special session "Artificial Intelligence — Human Rights, Dignity, and Multireligious Perspectives on AI."

"Religions for Peace" is the world's largest and most wide-reaching international interreligious peace organization, with a history spanning more than half a century.
