On May 27, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board (CMB), met with the participants of the international conference titled "Islamophobia: Exposure of Prejudice and Demolition of Stigmas" held in Baku.
AZERTAC reports that in his address at the event, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board (CMB), emphasized the vital importance of the international conference "Islamophobia: Exposure of Prejudice and Demolition of Stigmas," held in our country, for eliminating the global misconceptions forming against the religion of Islam, promoting religious tolerance and multicultural values, as well as conveying the peaceful essence of Islam to the world community.
He drew attention to Azerbaijan's commitment to the principles of Islamic solidarity, multiculturalism, and religious tolerance, and the principled stance of our head of state, Ilham Aliyev, in this direction. It was stated that the steps taken by our country in the fight against Islamophobia, the protection of the religious and spiritual heritage, and the restoration of monuments belonging to all religions are welcomed by the international community.
At the end of his speech, the Sheikhulislam called upon the world community to display a joint and principled position against national, racial, and religious intolerance.
Abdel Wahab Abdel Razeq, Chairman of the Senate of the Arab Republic of Egypt, who is on an official visit to our country, spoke and expressed concern about the growing discrimination and biased attitude towards Islam and Muslims globally, particularly in Western countries. He stated that this phenomenon contradicts the principles of human rights and democracy.
The Senate Chairman noted that education, enlightenment, mutual understanding, and cooperation are crucial in response to these challenges.
Ravan Hasanov, Executive Director of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center, also addressed the event, discussing the significance of the conference "Islamophobia: Exposure of Prejudice and Demolition of Stigmas" held in Baku, and expressed confidence that the event will play a significant role in combating religious-based intolerance and discrimination on a global scale.
