On 15 April, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board, received José Pedro Torrubia, Chargé d'affaires of the Kingdom of Spain to Azerbaijan.

His Holiness the Sheikhulislam warmly greeted the guest and highlighted the close ties established between the Caucasus Muslims Board and centres representing various religions and confessions in the Kingdom of Spain. He recalled that important issues were discussed at the international conference organised by the Caucasus Muslims Board in Madrid in 2017, within the framework of the "Year of Islamic Solidarity" declared by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev.

Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade announced that he has been invited to a conference titled "A Call for Peace, Ending Wars, and Respect for International Law," which will be organised in Spain later this month by Miguel Ángel Moratinos, the Deputy Secretary-General of the UN and High Representative for the Alliance of Civilisations. He spoke about the significance of the event for Azerbaijan: "The holding of the international conference in the city of Guernica, Spain, holds important significance for us. This is because the city of Khojaly in Azerbaijan suffered a similar fate, where a great crime against humanity was committed, and the elderly, women, and infants were brutally murdered. We intend to use the platform of the event to provide extensive information about the atrocities committed by Armenians against the civilian population and religious monuments in Khojaly, Shusha, Aghdam, and our other territories."

The Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board informed the Spanish diplomat about the extensive reconstruction work being carried out by the state in the territories liberated from occupation after the historic 44-day Victory. He noted that another international conference is planned to be held in Shusha this year, co-organised by the UN Alliance of Civilisations.

José Pedro Torrubia, Chargé d'affaires of the Kingdom of Spain to Azerbaijan, stated that religions call people to peace and brotherhood worldwide. He specifically noted the high level of harmony between religions and cultures in Azerbaijan, emphasising that the country's success in this field serves as an exemplary model for the entire world.

Speaking about his visits to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, the diplomat highly praised the work accomplished in Karabakh in a short period.

During the conversation, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
