Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board, who is taking part in the Eurasian Economic Summit at the invitation of the Marmara Group Strategic and Social Research Foundation, met with Patriarch Bartholomew of Istanbul.
During the meeting, the religious leaders discussed matters of interreligious dialogue, global peace, and intercultural cooperation.
Speaking of the tolerant environment that has taken shape in Azerbaijan over the centuries, His Eminence Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade stated that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, intercultural and interreligious dialogue in the country has reached its highest stage. He emphasized that Azerbaijan is today regarded as one of the world's principal centers of dialogue among religions and cultures.
Patriarch Bartholomew, for his part, said that he has always held the religious tolerance in Azerbaijan in high esteem. He also noted that the 31st Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31), to be held in Türkiye this November, will be an important platform for humanity.
Other matters of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting, and at its conclusion the parties presented each other with commemorative gifts.
