“The dear memory of our heroes who died for the Homeland will always live in our hearts. May God have mercy on all our martyrs.” These words were voiced today by the heads of religious confessions and community members operating in Azerbaijan, who gathered at the Residence of the Sheikhulislam – each head of a religious confession commemorated the martyrs of the Homeland and offered prayers for their souls in accordance with their religious belief and rites. The religious leaders of multicultural Azerbaijan, as a monolithic society, commemorated our dear martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our Homeland in a manner worthy of their high status. A memorial table (ehsan süfrəsi) was opened in honor of the martyrs of the Homeland.
Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade stated: “Today is a magnificent anniversary in the history of our people and our state. Five years have passed since the beginning of the Patriotic War, which put an end to the 30-year Armenian occupation of Azerbaijani lands. The history of our War of Right on the path of restoring historical justice is a day of honor and a source of pride for every Azerbaijani. September 27 – the history of Commemoration Day is particularly important in the memory of the people as the pinnacle of our national revival, our state power, and our love for the Homeland. On September 27, the Azerbaijani people entered the biggest test of its history. It began a righteous struggle to liberate its ancestral lands, which it had yearned for for years, from the occupier, to free its national-cultural monuments from bondage, and to save its mosques from insult and its wealth from plunder. Under the leadership of our Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the Azerbaijani Army fulfilled the honorable duty of returning our right to us and restoring our territorial integrity, which is recognized by international law but which it failed to ensure. May Almighty God have mercy on our heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Homeland in this just war, and grant healing to our brave veterans (gazis)!
In those days, the heart of each of us beat with Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani soldier, and we believed that the 30 years of longing would end. We were confident that under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the Azerbaijani people would win in Karabakh, and peace and justice would be established. Our religious figures stood by the people day and night during those fateful days, providing religious and moral services to our soldiers, their families, and relatives. We jointly participated in the funeral ceremonies of the martyrs of the Homeland belonging to different religions, participating together without distinction—Muslim, Catholic, Orthodox, Jew. Today, we are again commemorating our heroic martyrs together. The power of the Azerbaijani state is unshakeable, and our victories will continue as long as the wise state policy continues. The religious figures of Azerbaijan and all our believers are always with His Excellency President Ilham Aliyev, always support his victorious political line, and always pray for him. May the Almighty God protect Azerbaijan, and preserve our head of state! May Allah have mercy on all the martyrs, the heroic martyrs of our 44-day Patriotic War! Amen!”
Today, under the leadership of the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board (CMB), Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, Muslim religious figures and representatives of other religious confessions operating in our country visited the Victory Park in Baku in connection with the Commemoration Day of the martyrs of the Homeland.
The dear memory of our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the restoration of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan was respectfully honored, and prayers were read for their souls.
In accordance with the action plan prepared by the Consultative Council of Religious Confessions in Azerbaijan, the memories of our heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Patriotic War were commemorated and prayers were offered in mosques, churches, and synagogues across the country in connection with Commemoration Day.
In these days, the religious figures visited the families of martyrs in Baku and our regions and called on the veterans (gazis) wounded during the 44-day fighting and the anti-terror operation.
