Heads of religious confessions operating in Azerbaijan visited Victory Park in Baku in connection with 27 September, Remembrance Day.
As reported by AZERTAC, the religious leaders first gathered together with CMB Chairman Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade.
In his remarks, Allahshukur Pashazade said Remembrance Day holds special significance in Azerbaijan's modern history, noting that it has become a symbol of the nation's revival, the strength of its statehood, and love for the Motherland.
He recalled that during the Patriotic War, clergy stood beside soldiers, martyrs' families and veterans, and that representatives of different religious confessions jointly took part in martyrs' funeral ceremonies. He described the solidarity among Azerbaijan's religious confessions as one of the country's key spiritual assets.
The remarks also touched on the restoration of religious and cultural heritage in the liberated territories, the rebuilding of mosques and places of worship, and demining efforts under way there.
Prayers were then recited for the souls of the martyrs.
The religious leaders then went to Victory Park and visited the Victory Monument, laying flowers and paying tribute to the memory of those who gave their lives for Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
