The Muslim Council of Elders' Chairman, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayyeb, has welcomed the agreement on a peace treaty reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia, considering the document a historic step toward achieving peace and stability in the Caucasus region.
The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, conveyed this information, praising the historic agreement and the sincere efforts and preparatory steps that accelerated the process. He noted that this reflects the genuine will of both sides to end the conflict and build lasting peace.
The Secretary-General reaffirmed the Council's support for all initiatives aimed at promoting peace and reconciliation and advancing the values of dialogue, tolerance, coexistence, and human fraternity.
The Muslim Council of Elders has called on all relevant international stakeholders to support this agreement and ensure its full implementation, thus contributing to the strengthening of regional and global security and stability. The Council also reiterated its call for all peoples and nations to embrace the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence, reject violence and hatred, and work together to build a better future based on peace, understanding, and harmony.
