On 24 September, an event dedicated to the 6th anniversary of Remembrance Day — 27 September — was held at the Caucasus Muslims Board (CMB).
As reported by AZERTAC, the event was attended by the heads of religious confessions operating in Azerbaijan, members of martyrs' families, and war veterans.
The event opened with the State Anthem and a recitation from the Holy Quran.
In his address, CMB Chairman Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade said that Remembrance Day, 27 September, holds an important place in the memory of the Azerbaijani people. He emphasised that the main task facing the Azerbaijani Army during the 44-day Patriotic War was the restoration of the country's territorial integrity.
Allahshukur Pashazade paid respectful tribute to the memory of the martyrs who gave their lives in the Patriotic War and wished healing to war veterans. He noted that during the war, clergy stood beside the people, the soldiers and the families of martyrs, providing them with religious and spiritual support.
The CMB Chairman drew attention to the solidarity shown by representatives of various religious confessions during the war and in the period following the Victory. He said that representatives of the Muslim, Christian and Jewish communities worked jointly to convey the truth of Azerbaijan's just struggle to the world community.
Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade stressed that the unity of the people and the state, together with national and spiritual solidarity, played an important role in Azerbaijan's Victory. He spoke about the large-scale reconstruction work carried out in the liberated territories, the restoration of religious and cultural heritage, and the rebuilding of mosques and places of worship.
Other speakers at the event also addressed the significance of Remembrance Day, 27 September, and emphasised the unity and solidarity demonstrated by the Azerbaijani people during the Patriotic War.
Speakers noted that representatives of various religious and ethnic communities stood by Azerbaijan's soldiers and people during the Patriotic War, and that the respect shown to the memory of the martyrs carries moral significance for all religious communities. It was stated that the religious and national solidarity present in Azerbaijan is one of the important features of the country's public life.
The heads of the religious confessions noted the historic significance of the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty, stating that keeping alive forever the memory of the martyrs who gave their lives for the Motherland is a moral duty of every citizen.
At the event, the joint statement of the heads of Azerbaijan's religious confessions was read out.
The event closed with a charitable meal (ehsan) offered in memory of the martyrs.
