The Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, visited Abu Dhabi from February 2–5 at the invitation of Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary General of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity and Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Elders. The purpose of the visit was to participate in the ceremony presenting the 2026 "Zayed Award for Human Fraternity" Peace Prize to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev.
Ahead of the presentation ceremony, on February 3, Sheikh-ul-Islam A. Pashazade attended sessions at the Zayed National Museum titled "Women's Leadership as a Key Factor in Strengthening Human Fraternity" and "The Practical Face of Humanitarian Action: Responding Without Delay, Leading Boldly, and Executing Purely." These sessions were attended by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation; Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan; and other members of the Human Fraternity Award jury.
During the visit, Sheikh-ul-Islam A. Pashazade held several bilateral meetings.
First, the CMB Chairman met with Mohamed Abdelsalam in his capacity as a member of the Muslim Council of Elders. Both parties expressed their joy and pride in President Ilham Aliyev being honored with the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity. Sheikh-ul-Islam noted that he participated in this prestigious and historic ceremony with great pleasure on behalf of all religious believers in Azerbaijan. The meeting included an exchange of views regarding various intra-Islamic, interreligious, and intercultural ceremonies planned for 2026 in Azerbaijan and abroad. Specifically, the parties discussed holding the next session of the Muslim Council of Elders in Azerbaijan in 2027.
Sheikh-ul-Islam A. Pashazade also held meetings with Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Uzbekistan Presidential Administration; Cardinal John Kuvakad, Prefect of the Vatican Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue; Cardinal Jose Mendonça, Prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education; Mr. Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan; Elder David Bednar, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; and other political, public, and religious leaders.
On February 4, Sheikh-ul-Islam A. Pashazade attended the official ceremony where the 2026 "Zayed Award for Human Fraternity" Peace Prize was presented to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev.
